CABC Cyclocross Race

Well I made the drive on Sunday moring to Red Deer to take in the spectacle we call Cyclocross racing and to use up some of the film I have left. I must say the drive up the QEW highway was more dangerous than the course the athletes had to endure. I think that most people's sense of self preservation shuts off as soon as they get behind the wheel of a vehicle. I saw some pretty crazy stuff that morning, some people are freaking morons. (thats my rant about the drive) So back to the racing. I arrived at around 12:25, just in time to catch the last half of the expert race. It was raining quite steadliy which made the race course quite slick. It was a punishing day for the poor bikes and competitors. Congrats to Spencer for the strong win in Expert men. The Open Field was well contested by approximatley 20 riders. The race looked very fast with Tim H and Mark Webster driving the pace in the early laps. Just after one lap everyone looked like the slid across the ground on their face a few times. I managed to see a few crashes, but they were usally at slow speeds. So there wasn't anything to spectacular. I did manage to get some good shots though. I unfortunatley could not download all of them to my flickr account but I have a dozen or so that i've posted. Check them out here. Congrats to Tim H for a solid win in the open class. Tim is a super talented rider that just seems to be on another level from everybody else.

I'm still waiting for a seat, seatpost, tires and a cogg set. I'm hoping that they show up today or tomorrow. If it comes in time i'll go suffer in Canmore on Sunday other wise i'll half to wait until the Calgary races.

You're training on your couch too? I'm a master of that right now.
